For this Summer Home in Eastham, MA Muto Construction removed an old worn out deck and replaced it with a beautiful new screened in porch. The new space was trimmed in Azek to prevent rot, and also used the same material for the decking. Azek is a premium capped polymer material. Decks and other structures made from these capped composite deck boards contain traditional composite wood and plastic core with a durable polymer protective (PVC) coating. The coating prevents keeps mold and rot away from the inner organic materials, which is why they last so much longer than regular wood. These boards have the look and feel of a traditional wood, but they last longer, stay cooler, and retains color over time, plus come in many colors to suit a variety of tastes. They can be used painted or bare without affecting their ability to withstand time and weather.
Accommodations of this new space include a ceiling fan, wiring for a T.V. and it is conveniently situated right off the master bedroom with both access to the bedroom, as well as steps out to the back yard complete with a railing. The structure was built low enough to not need guard rails and has attractive screened panels which run the entire height of the room for a seamless appearance. These screens are also removable, and can be replaced in colder months to create a warmer space, or in the summer to create an airy, open, covered deck. Having this new convertible space gives these home owners more room for fun for summertime, like cook outs or parties. The possibility of cuddling together on the outdoor couch an a beautiful summer evening, watching T.V. before bed and being able to slip right back to the bedroom when they are tired is now a reality this couple can enjoy for years to come. Having this new outdoor space that can be used in good weather or bad also adds value to the home.
Because of the fact that this home had the whole roof re-done at the time of the new construction, the whole roof matches perfectly and the homeowner saved money by combining whole roofing job with the deck construction.
Muto Construction re-built the entire roof on the house and over the new 3 season room and completed the entire project in 2.5-3 weeks.
A project like this (for the screened in porch, not including full roof) costs $30,000-$35,000.
